100 Thing Challenge

[This page is a work in progress]

Carly and I are heading to Europe for a few months starting in mid-September. We’ll stay as long as we’re allowed in the Schengen region, and then head to the UK for a bit.

We’ve been madly purging unnecessary clutter  from our home, which we’ll be leasing out while we’re away. For me, it’s the perfect excuse to start my own 100 Thing Challenge, which I am hoping to continue once we arrive back in Canada.

So here is my list of things that I’m planning on taking with along with any additional “custom” rules that I’m making or breaking.

The List

  1. Bible (either pocket-sized New Testament + Psalms/Proverbs, or my smallish complete NIV, depending on space)
  2. Field Notes notebook and pen (I’d bring my Caran d’Ache 849, but it seems to be missing)
  3. 15″ MacBook Pro (including charger)
  4. Incase Neoprene Sleeve for MacBook Pro
  5. 2.5″ 500GB External Hard Drive (for backups, including USB cable)
  6. iPhone 3GS (including cable)
  7. Swiss Gear 20″ Upright Carry-on Suitcase (I really wanted a Crumpler Period Charmer, but they cost $300, and we got the Swiss Gear luggage from Sears at 65% off, and paid for it with gift cards, so in essence it was free)
  8. Large MEC Backpack (it sucks, but it works, I don’t even know what model it is)
  9. Arc’teryx Theta AR Jacket
  10. Icebreaker Tech T Lite T-Shirt
  11. Icebreaker Mondo Zip
  12. Audio Technica ATH-ANC3 Headphones
  13. Universal Power Adapter
  14. Canon PowerShot G11
  15. Glasses (what can I say, can’t see that good without ‘em)
  16. Wallet (what can I say, black, leather, crappy, and sure ain’t no Braithwaite)
  17. Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant (Mitchum Unscented Clear Gel, all the way), shaving razor, Pacific Shaving Co. Shaving Oil (thanks to Kareem for that tip), shampoo, conditioner, “hair product”
  18. Swiss Army Knife
  19. Petzl Tikka headlamp
  20. North Face Hedgehog GTX XCR (Gore-Tex lined hikers)
  21. Skechers Citywalk shoes

The (Broken?) Rules

  1. Socks and underwear don’t count towards total items
  2. Any item in the list above that is really two items (e.g. toothbrush + toothpaste), but placed on a single line, I am counting as a single item (for now)
